چکیده

paraoxonase-1 (pon1) is a serum hdl-bound enzyme that hydrolyzes a number of aromatic carboxylic acid esters including lipid peroxides, preventing ldl oxidation. systemic lupus erythematosus (sle) patients are at greater risk of oxidative stress, which is associated with abnormal plasma lipid metabolism. in this study, association of pon-55 polymorphism with serum arylesterase (are) activities, malondialdehyde (mda), neopterin, lipids and lipoproteins levels in sle patients and the development of hypertension was investigated. the present case-control study consisted of 109 sle patients with and without high blood pressure (bp) and 103 healthy controls from the population in the west of iran. pon-55 met

Rare Association between Kikuchi's Disease and Systemic Lupus Erythematosus

Histiocytic necrotizing lymphadenitis or Kikuchi's disease is a rare, benign condition of unknown etiology, which is usually characterized by cervical lymphadenopathy and fever. This disease is rarely associated with systemic lupus erythematosus. Here we describe, for the first time in Iran, a patient who developed systemic lupus erythematosus about 3 years after the initial diagnosis of Kikuch...

Codon 72 Polymorphism of p53 Gene and Hematologic Manifestations in Patients with Systemic Lupus Erythematosus

Background: Systemic lupus erythematosus is a systemic autoimmune disorder with unclear etiology. The importance of some genes in the development of systemic lupus erythematosus has been implicated. The gene polymorphism in codon 72 has attracted a lot of attention and its role in the occurrence or progression of many cancers and autoimmune diseases especially systemic lupus erythematosus has ...

Evaluation of CCR5Δ32 Polymorphism in Patients with Systemic Lupus Erythematosus and Healthy Individuals

ABSTRACT           Background and Objectives: C-C chemokine receptor type 5 (CCR5) is a chemokine receptor expressed at high levels on the surface of T-cells. A 32-bp deletion in the coding region of the CCR5 (CCR5Δ32) leads to production of an incomplete protein that is not expressed on the cell surface. CCR5Δ32 may be involved in devel...

A polymorphism upstream from the human paraoxonase (PON1) gene and its association with PON1 expression.

Human serum paraoxonase (PON1) is an esterase that has been shown to decrease the susceptibility of lipoproteins to lipid peroxidation. We found a polymorphism of cytosine/thymidine (-108C/T, the number is from the ATG codon) in the upstream region of the PON1 gene. The luciferase activity was lower in the -108T allele than in the -108C allele. The serum PON1 concentrations in 132 normal subjec...
